You want the next big game hitting the market, so you go to GameStop for the midnight release, but woah! That line's inane! What's an impatient, not-so-bright gamer to do? Obviously, the correct course of action is to find someone who bought the game first, follow them home and rob them at gunpoint! Right? ....Right?
That's exactly what The Escapist reports 18-year-old David Morales (pictured right) of Kansas City did during the midnight release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. Morales followed Adam Freeman back to his apartment, blocked in Freeman's car with his red Ford Explorer, then approached with a handgun.
Morales "racked a round" in his gun, shouting "Give me the game!" Freeman shouted back a rather colorful retort, and Morales "raked another round, causing the first round to eject and fall on the ground."
Now here's where the victim's motives get called into question. You're held up at gunpoint for the equivalent of $60, so... grab the gun by the barrel? Sure, sounds good.
The two struggled briefly until Morales ran back to his Explorer and drove off, and Freeman called 911. Naturally, the police head to the GameStop to see if Morales' face was caught on the security cameras, but lo and behold they found something even more useful. A red Ford Explorer. And Morales in the line, waiting his turn to buy the game.
Police arrested Morales, who remains in jail in lieu of $50,000 bond. Freeman later admitted the mishap with the gun grabbing wasn't the best plan. "If I had more time to think about it, I probably would have just given him the game," he said. "It's a wonderful game, but it's not worth dying over."
