Have you ever been in a fistfight and thought, "Man, what I wouldn't give to be Thor right now." No? Then you're not David Brown, inventor of The BodyGuard.

The BodyGuard is essentially an arm-mounted taser capable of delivering 300,000 volts while simultaneously scaring the living hell out of the opposing side. The wearer need only pull a grenade-like pin and press the button on the palm of the device to arc electricity between the two spikes on the wrist. In most cases, this is hoped to be enough to force a surrender. Otherwise, there's always the son-of-Odin option.
Naturally, The BodyGuard is being marketed to the police force, prison guards and the military. Aside from shocking suspects into unconsciousness, the device has some pretty advanced tech under the hood. So far, Brown has produced a prototype which includes a laser-guided video camera and an LED flashlight.
Future versions could include electronic translators and chemical sensors. The translators should help soldiers communicate overseas, and the chemical sensors are intended to quickly help with police investigations - something like a mini crime lab.
The BodyGuard has made its mark as one of Popular Science's 2011 Inventions of the Year, not to mention the demo video got a cameo from Kevin Costner, investor and star of "The Bodyguard." The first demo unit is set to be released to the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department later this year. Look out L.A.
